Full disclosure, her Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies are better than any PB¬†cookie you’ve ever. had. in. your. life.

Hey Annalise, tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a full-time blogger and recipe developer, and also a stay-at-home mom to my two year-old son, John. My family currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.

How did you get started this industry?
I started blogging to document my time in culinary school and home baking adventures.

How did you juggle your time in the beginning?
In the beginning it was just a hobby. I had a full-time day job, so all blogging work had to be done on nights and weekends.

How do you manage your time now?
My son is in daycare two days a week, so that is when I do the bulk of my work. I also work during nap time on the other weekdays, and a few nights a week. I try to keep weekends free of work, but that’s not always possible.

Is there anything you’ve learned from doing this blog that you hope to teach and pass along to your son?
Number one, I will teach him how to cook and bake. That is such an important skill. I also hope to teach him to find something he loves and figure out how to turn it into a living.

What changed from how you worked before you had your son to after?
I quit my day job after my son was born, so I have been able to take on a lot more blogging and freelance recipe development work over the last few years. I’m now working about 35 hours a week and earning almost as much as I was with the day job, whereas before I was working 10 hours a week and bringing in very little income. But my schedule and workload is constantly changing with my son’s growth and needs. Now that he’s getting a little older, I wouldn’t be able to do as much as I do without hiring out daycare.

How did having him change your perspective on what you do?
I have a huge appreciation for being able to work from home and significantly contribute to my family’s finances. Blogging is not always fun and easy, but I love that I get to stay home with my son and spend most of my days with him. Hooray for hobbies that turn into “careers”, and hooray for work that lets you stay home in sweatpants all day!

Is there anything you would like to promote or something new you’re working on for your site?
My blog currently focuses on accessible baking recipes for all levels, as well as baking tutorials and helpful tips. I recently branched out to include about one savory non-baking recipe per week.

I’m also a contributing blogger to BettyCrocker.com and am currently partnered with brands like Hershey, Red Star Yeast, and Diamond Nuts.
